Well hello beautiful people! Please comment below if you want me to make a review on these, these aren't the usual books I review but I would of course love to if anyone is interested. They're Lauren Conrad's Beauty and Seventeen's Ultimate Guide to Beauty.

Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles #1) by Gena Showalter (4/5 stars)

Title: Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles #1)
Author: Gena Showalter
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Date Published: September 25, 2012
Genre: Horror-Zombies/Urban Fantasy
Hardcover: 404 pages
Rating: 4/5 stars

"She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.
I'd tell my sister no.
I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.
I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.
Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.
I'd tell them I love them.
I wish... Yeah, I wish.

"Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

Two days before the start of her junior year, seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is hit by a pickup truck and killed—as in blinding light, scenes of her life flashing before her, and then nothing. Except the next thing she knows, she's opening her eyes to find Ben Michaels, a loner from her high school whom Janelle has never talked to, leaning over her. And even though it isn't possible, she knows—with every fiber of her being—that Ben has somehow brought her back to life.

But her revival, and Ben's possible role in it, is only the first of the puzzles that Janelle must solve. While snooping in her FBI agent father's files for clues about her accident, she uncovers a clock that seems to be counting down to something—but to what? And when someone close to Janelle is killed, she can no longer deny what's right in front of her: Everything that's happened—the accident, the murder, the countdown clock, Ben's sudden appearance in her life—points to the end of life as she knows it. And as the clock ticks down, she realizes that if she wants to put a stop to the end of the world, she's going to need to uncover Ben's secrets—and keep from falling in love with him in the process.

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins (5/5 stars)

Title: Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2)
Author: Suzanne Collins
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Date Published: September 01, 2009
Genre: Dystopia
Hardcover: 391 pages
Rating: 5/5 stars

" Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

In Catching Fire, the second novel of the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen, testing her more than ever before...and surprising readers at every turn.

He’s a restless teen who feels trapped by his literary existence and hates that his entire life is predetermined. He’s sure there’s more for him out there in the real world, and Delilah might just be his key to freedom.

Delilah and Oliver work together to attempt to get Oliver out of his book, a challenging task that forces them to examine their perceptions of fate, the world, and their places in it. And as their attraction to each other grows along the way, a romance blossoms that is anything but a fairy tale. "

In my Mailbox #11 Reader Overload Edition!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my In my Mailbox, hosted by The Story Siren where I post books I've bought/been gifted/received for review the past week. I know my reader is too full with books already but these new releases aren't available in my local bookstore yet and I want to get started on reading some of them. I do buy a paperback/hardcover copy of books I really like or find amazing (4 stars/5 stars) and make sure those books are in my reader too to show support for the author who wrote them. Same goes even if I already have an ARC of the book, I'd still buy a paperback/hardcover copy plus ebook. Click Read More to find out what I got this week!

Stormdancer Giveaway! (Sept 20-30)

NEW RULE: You can pick Stormdancer (in paperback) or any other paperback title of your choice up to 20 USD.
Why: I'm so sorry, I should have read the book first before I decided to choose this book for my giveaway. After reading the first few chapters, I ended up not finishing the book. My second DNF (did not finish). I had a few issues with Stormdancer. I will discuss only one of them here. I'm not Japanese and yet the cultural appropriation was blatant even to me, with the author misusing a lot of Japanese terms. I knew from the cover that the world of Stormdancer was inspired by Japan, the place, its people and its culture. However, I assumed, and I think everyone else did, that the author did his research. From what I've read, he obviously didn't, and to my horror, he admits to using Wikipedia for his research.  Wikipedia articles are not accurate which is why it should never be considered as an authority on anything. Further, because you don't know who contributed the material, you don't know how reliable it is, it may false or it may contain errors. Again, I should've read the book before choosing it and I promise to do so for my next giveaway.

Hello everyone!

Stormdancer is hands down, the most raved about book this month, I have not seen a negative word said of this book and you can win a copy of it by joining my second giveaway!

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love."

In my Mailbox #10 my biggest haul ever Edition!

Hello all!

This weekend has been a blast for me! I watched The King and I theater gala performance last night with my boyfriend at Resorts World Manila. The production was oh so grand! The music played by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra was beautiful. Philippine Ballet Theater dancers performing Uncle Tom's Cabin Siam style was hypnotizing! I loved the voices of Tanya Manalang as Tuptim, Lorenz Martinez as Lun Tha, and Gina Respall as Lady Thiang. I shall look out for them in future theater performances.

I was still able to squeeze in a little book shopping this weekend and a little reading (and work huhu). Here are my book hauls this week:

*too tired to charge my camera and take photos of this week's haul so goodreads pictures for now*

Seriesly Hooked! 2012

Hello everyone!

I just realized I have a ton of book series to finish and a ton to start on too! In the middle of it all I keep on forgetting to pick up the next in the series release so I figured I should make a post where I can update my progress in them including a few thoughts on the series as a whole. Titles in Green are available in book shops but I haven't purchased them yet. Titles in Orange are books with available information but are not yet available for purchase. Titles in Violet are books already in my shelf/reader but I haven't read them yet.

The Mortal Instruments

City of Bones 1/6
City of Ashes 2/6
City of Glass 3/6
City of Fallen Angels 4/6
City of Lost Souls 5/6
City of Heavenly Fire 6/6

Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy 1/6
Frostbite 2/6
Shadow Kiss 3/6
Blood Promise 4/6
Spirit Bound 5/6
Last Sacrifice 6/6

My thoughts on the series: Blood Promise was AMAZING! I was so caught up in Rose's and Dimitri's love story but in Spirit Bound, how much I like Dimitri just dropped! I remember him saying if he had to choose between saving Lissa and Rose, he would choose Rose without hesitation. That's the Dimitri I like! In the end of Last Sacrifice he said he didn't know who he would choose and he still seems to be in awe of Lissa. Yes, Lissa did save him but her efforts were nothing compared to what Rose did for him. Call me a romantic but it would have been a rocking end to the story if Rose and Dimitri just ran away from it all. And! I would've wanted Dimitri to grovel a little to get Rose back damn it!

Night Huntress

Halfway to the Grave 1/*
One Foot in the Grave 2/*
At Grave's End 3/*
Destined for an Early Grave 4/*
This Side of the Grave 5/*
One Grave at a Time 6/*

My thoughts on the series: I don't want to say this but if I were to give a rating on the series as a whole, One Grave at a Time will drag that rating down, it feels like a bonus story and This Side of the Grave would have been a good final book.

Trylle Trilogy

Switched 1/3
Torn 2/3
Ascend 3/3

The Last Apprentice

Revenge of the Witch 1/11
Curse of the Bane 2/11
Night of the Soul Stealer 3/11
Attack of the Fiend 4/11
Wrath of the Blood Eye 5/11
Clash of the Demons 6/11
Rise of the Huntress 7/11
Rage of the Fallen 8/11
I am Grimalkin 9/11
Lure of the Dead 10/11

My thoughts on this series: A lot of fans want this series to end but for me, the quality of each book is still excellent even on its tenth book unlike other series that seem to drag after the fifth book. I don't know what to do after this series finishes! (lol) Just like Harry Potter, I don't think there'll be anything quite like The Last Apprentice.

The Selection

The Selection 1/3
The Elite 2/3 (2013)
Untitled 3/3 (2014)

Blood of Eden

The Immortal Rules 1/3
The Eternity Cure 2/3

Fever

Dark Fever 1/5
Blood Fever 2/5
Fae Fever 3/5
Dreamfever 4/5
Shadowfever 5/5

My thoughts on this series: I love this series! Each book just brings you deeper and deeper into Mac's story and the fae world. Mac and Barrons' chemistry is electric! The two of them together in the same room and the sexual tension is palpable. A lot of humorous but intimate scenes between them too like their "silent conversations" and you just realize that they love each other long before they both admit it!

These will surely turn that frown upside down!

Happy list is the same as my monthly feature, Can't wait books, but I added some products with my to buy book list.

Here are the stuff I'm picking up this month:

1. The Last Apprentice: Lure of the Dead (Book 10). My next favorite book series to Harry Potter is on the top of my happy list and it's the last book in the series too. Picture I'm posting is the UK edition I believe, because that girl is gorgeous!

Time is running out for Thomas Ward. His final battle against the Fiend is drawing near, and the Spook's apprentice has never felt more alone in his task. Isolated and afraid, the Fiend is set to send the greatest of his servants against him - Siscoi, a Vampire God more ferocious than anything he has yet faced. Tom must risk his life to prevent the evil beast from entering this world, even as he learns that the final destruction of the Fiend may involve a sacrifice more terrible than he can imagine.

International edition will come out August 21. Can't wait!

2. August 07

Gemma seems to have it all—she’s carefree, pretty, and falling in love with Alex, the boy next door. He’s always been just a friend, but this summer they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, and now there’s no going back. Then one night, Gemma’s ordinary life changes forever. She’s taking a late night swim under the stars when she finds Penn, Lexi and Thea partying on the cove. They invite her to join them, and the next morning she wakes up on the beach feeling groggy and sick, knowing something is different.

3. August 28

Mason Starling is a champion fencer for Gosforth Academy, but she’s never had to fight for her life. Until now. When a ferocious storm rips through Manhattan and unleashes terrifying creatures onto Gosforth’s campus, Mason barely escapes alive. Without help from the mysterious stranger who appeared in the midst of the storm, she might not have made it at all. But now, in the aftermath, Mason’s life begins to spin dramatically, mystically out of control, and the only one who seems able to help her is the stranger who can remember nothing but his name: Fennrys Wolf.

As Mason and Fenn uncover more about Fenn’s past and the strange events that surround them, they realize that Mason’s family — and its dark allegiance to the ancient Norse gods — is at the center of everything. A predetermined fate seems to be closing in on Mason, but is it possible to change one’s destiny?

4. When I saw them in Essie's site, I thought - NEED! Essie's Yogaga collection is dreamy! Boxer shorts is perfect for some cozy reading, pilates hottie for coffee with the girls, and marathon for a lunch date with my guy.

5. CONFIDENT is my attitude this fall with this creamy lip color from LUSH, which is becoming my new favorite shop!

6. New skincare from Chanel, Hydra Beauty Creme suitable for colder weather. I got confused by their website description, if you did too, it's the Gel type that is suitable for hotter weather. We're having extra cold weather this month with a new storm in the horizon and my bottle of Laneige moisturizer is almost empty, so time for a new purchase!

What's on your happy list this month? Thanks for reading!

Now for my nails..

I was trying to do a gradient nail of sorts.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

My little Bookworm corner #5 Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice (Products I'm loving now!)

Hello everyone!

I didn't get to read so much last month (well books that I wanted to read but I still had to read a ton of other stuff) but July has been quite fun too with my current faves:

Clockwise from bottom left: Burberry Brit Summer Edition for Women; Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait; Urban Decay Lip Junkie in Naked (part of the UD Naked2 palette); Urban Decay Naked2 Palette; Deborah Lippman in Fashion; L' Oro Vita Argan Oil; MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser.

Burberry Brit Summer Edition for Women
Burberry Brit Summer is such a gorgeous summer-ender with a crisp and fresh scent. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the scent only lasts up to a little over two hours on me.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
Who wouldn't be addicted to these Lip Butters? It's easy to apply, gliding smoothly on the lips, moisturizing and has a delicious buttery scent. It applies sheer so I have to layer a bit to get the opaqueness I want but for its price point, it's amazing. I also love how glossy and shiny my lips look wearing it.

Urban Decay Naked2 Palette
Urban Decay is not available in my place or in Hong Kong so to get my own Naked2 palette I had to order online from a seller who delivers to Manila and it was a gamble. I had to pay around 67 USD for it (others are even selling it here for 100 USD) without knowing if it's real or if it's a fake as there are a lot of fake UD palettes out there. I found this post helpful as well as watching youtube videos that featured the fake UD Naked2 palette. Some telltale signs: the fake palette does not have the lip junkie and the original palette is in a transparent plastic box, not a gold box. My seller also has a money back guarantee that the product is original. The shades are just divine! I love playing with it.

Deborah Lippman in Fashion
Fashion is such a delicate nail polish shade. Add a black tip for a modern French manicure perfect for Fall!

L' Oro Vita Argan Oil
Put Argan Oil everywhere before you sleep! Face, underarms, elbows, knees, feet, hair, nails, I mean everywhere! You'd be surprised your skin can still get smoother.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser
I needed a cleanser that is water based but would still be effective in removing gel eye liner because I have eyelash extensions and oil based formula can remove the eyelash glue used on me and this cleaner works perfectly.

I hope you've had a beautiful July and an even better August! Don't forget to tell me what your July favorites were in the comments. Thank you for reading.
